The leadership of the Organised Labour and the Ondo state government are currently in a meeting to discuss modalities for the allocation of the available funds to statutory beneficiaries as salaries and other emoluments.
Labour is being represented by the chairman of Joint Negotiating Council, JNC, Niyi Fabunmi, other executives as well as the NLC chairman, Sunday Adeleye his TUC counterpart, Helen Odofin and state secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Sunday Akinzue.
The government is being represented by the Head of Service, Dare Aragbaiye, the Special Adviser to the governor on Union Matters, Alaba Isijola and other top bureaucrats.
Before the closed door meeting began,
The Head of Service told OSRC that the meeting became imperative to finetune how to allocate available funds based on peculiarities and pending commitments to the different statutory beneficiaries.
He listed the beneficiaries to include workers, pensioners, tertiary institutions and cooperative societies.
He explained that contrary to insinuations and reports, the meeting is not to discuss any proposed strike by the labour union as such was not contained in the letter addressed to the government.
Aragbaiye assured workers and pensioners that government will always prioritise their welfare and emoluments within the available resources.
