The ancient community of Isikan in Akure south local government area of Ondo State displayed its rich culture and tradition when the town celebrated its Ọbariṣa Festival.
The festival, heralded by the “Opa” ceremony, saw people, particularly youth, chanting and dancing while a few able-bodied men voluntarily whipped one another.
OSRC’s Richard Ilesanmi, who witnessed the ceremony reports that the festival was a celebration of the greatness of God, who they described as the supreme deity.
