The recommendation of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila for a higher educational qualification for aspirants to the office of the president and other elective positions has continued to generate reactions from stakeholders. A cross section of residents of Akure, who spoke with OSRC’s aligned with the Speaker, noting that Nigeria must review its leadership recruitment process to cope with current realities. OSRC’s Richard Ilésanmí reports that Gbajabiamila had at the 52nd convocation lecture of the University of Lagos advocated a review of section 131(d) of the 1999 constitution that pegged academic qualification for elective position at secondary school certificate.
