The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the just concluded Akure North/Àkúré South Federal constituency bye-election, Mr. Mayokun Lawson-Alade winner of the poll.
The returning officer for the bye-election, Professor Deji Ogunseemi of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, said Mayokun Lawson-Alade satisfied the requirements of the law in securing the highest number of votes in the election.
The collation officer for the federal constituency Prof. Deji Ogunseemi of the federal University of Technology, Akurewhile declaring the number of votes obtained by political parties in the two local government areas said in Àkúré South, the Accord party had 28 votes, African Democratic Party, had 334 votes, All Progressives Congress, APC polled seventeen thousand six hundred and eighty-six votes, the all peoples Party, APP had 86 votes, the National Redemption Movement had 55 votes, the people’s Democratic Party PDP polled eighteen thousand, three hundred and thirty-eight votes and Social Democratic Party, SDP had 50 votes
For AKURE NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT, the Accord party polled 13 votes, the ADP had 131, APC polled eight thousand six hundred and eighty-four votes, APP had 39 votes, NRM had 21 votes, the PDP had five thousand eight hundred and sixty-three votes, and SDP had 18 votes.
Analysis of the total votes scored by the two leading political parties showed that the APC garnered twenty-six thousand three hundred and seventy votes while the
PDP polled twenty-four thousand two hundred and one votes.
