All is set for judgement in the trial of the founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Alfa and six other church members over the disappearance of Gold Kolawole last November.
Prophet Alfa and his defendants were brought to the court amidst tight security by officials of the Nigerian correctional service where they have been detained since trial began last December.
They are standing trial on a three count charge, including conspiracy to aid and abet kidnapping and destruction of evidence.
The state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Adekola Olawoye is leading appearance for the state while Banjo Ayenakin stood in for Olusola Oke, the lead defense counsel.
The court is filled with lawyers, journalists and representatives of civil society organizations despite efforts at ensuring adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
