  • says media outfit thriving despite obvious challenges

Towards ensuring effective media operations and strengthen the dissemination of credible information, the Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Information, led by its Chairman, Chief Olatunji Oshati, paid an oversight visit to the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC).

The visit aimed to assess the station’s operations, challenges, and needs as part of its statutory oversight functions.

Welcoming the team, the Director of Finance and Administration at OSRC, Mr Segun Fadayomi, thanked the team of lawmakers for their support in the past and sought the continued support of the legislative arm of government in recruiting more personnel for maximum service delivery.

The Chairman of the media outfit, Mr Kunle Adebayo, also highlighted several challenges, including the need for improved funding and increased support from the legislature, and reiterated the commitment of the media organisation to delivering top-notch services.

He also outlined some of the Corporation’s achievements, including the up-to-date payment of gratuity to pensioners under the Corporation’s services.

The Chairman of the Committee, Olatunji Oshati, assured that the committee would communicate the Corporation’s needs to the appropriate authorities, emphasising that a well-equipped media outlet is vital for keeping the public informed and promoting transparency in governance.

“Today’s visit allows us to evaluate how OSRC is managing its resources and fulfilling its mandate to inform, educate, and entertain the people of Ondo State. As representatives of the people, it’s essential that we support and ensure accountability for all media-related services,” he said.

Other lawmakers expressed concern that a lack of timely and adequate funding could hinder the media organisation’s ability to fulfil its role in information dissemination.

The lawmakers were later shown around some of the facilities in the Corporation.
