A Great Man is Gone
The nation wakes to the sad news of the death of Governor
Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN. Governor Akeredolu was my benefactor, a personal friend, confidant, leader, mentor and
elder brother. His death therefore is a personal loss which wound may never heal in a foreseeable future.
This sad exit of Aketi is an ugly diminish of the pantheon of true patriots and best minds in our country. Trees grow in the forest, yet they wither, Rivers flow, yet they run dry, so also is life of man which is programmed to be wasted and washed off at the end of our mortality.
Our journey with him provides a testimony to a tremendous man of vision, character, courage and conviction. His indebtedness to loyalty, lofty ideas, enduring values and
uplifting vision were total and defining. They remained constant as a northern star and completely relevant to the growth and prosperity of society he lived and served.
His many acts of heroism included silent Charities, defence of
Truth, Honesty and all the Rights and Privileges of the vulnerable, always and all ways. He trusted without
reservations, loved without condition and served without limit. I remember his frontal and unequivocal defence of our shared beliefs and commissions even at avoidable personal risks and costs. By his words, he is with you even when the whole world riles against you.
Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was a candle of hope, joy and redemption for many of us with him and the people around him. He lived a life of purpose of which I and many others have learnt and blossomed. Ondo State and Nigeria have lost
a fearless leader. I have personally lost a compass, a beacon
and true man of all seasons.
Brother Ewé, may the good Lord grant your gentle soul a peaceful repose and support your loved ones with the inner
strength to bear this irreparable loss.
Adekunle Adebayo
Chairman/CE
Ondo State Radiovision Corporation.
