Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu says he firmly believes that Nigeria will continue to wax stronger as a nation if equity and fairness are allowed to guide national engagements.
At a ceremony to celebrate some heroes of the state who were involved in the struggle for the creation of Ondo State which included Ekiti at the time, and who are still alive, the governor urged those who believe in the struggle for an egalitarian society to be firm in their actions and comments.
Orange FM’s Olumide Adeluwoye reports that Pa. Reuben Fasoranti, Bashorun Sehinde Arogbofa, Pa S.O Animasaun and Pa Olu Adeyemi among others were honoured for their doggedness and vision which led to the creation of the State.
Governor Akeredolu said the state has experienced huge growth over the years, commending the various governments, both military and civilian for their impact
He said ondo State had become a force to reckon with over the years in all sectors across the country.
The governor said the present system which renders all states almost helpless is deplorable advocating for restructuring across all sectors in the country.
He promised that his administration will continue to defend the interest of the people at all cost in line with the founding philosophy of the state’s patriarchs
Speaking on behalf of the honourees, Pa. Reuben Fasoranti and Bashorun Sehinde Arogbofa appreciated the governor for rewarding them for their sacrifices to build a great state.
Ondo state was created on 3rd February 1976 by the regime of General Murtala Mohammed.
