Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mr Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye has expressed concerns over the invasion of hotels in Akure, the state capital by security agent.
Yusuf – Ogunleye, in a chat with newsmen, said the State Government will not joke with welfare and freedom of association of its citizens as contained in the 1999 constitution of Nigeria as amended.
The commissioner while reacting to the ugly situation, said the government will not support any act of criminality nor stop the security agent from doing their statutory functions, saying they should discharge their duties with decency and in line with act of professionalism.
According to him, “We wish to appeal to the good people of the state and the innocent youth who have not been found guilty of any offence.
“As a responsible government, we will not fold our arms and allow our citizens to be punished unjust.
“I have personally visited one of the hotels where EFCC made the arrest, having listen to the management of the hotel after I was taken round the premises ,what I saw was an eyesore, abnormal situation and that the EFCC did not display act of professionalism.”
“Properties of the hotel including electronic gadgets were destroyed, I was briefed how customers at the hotel were asked to lied down and beaten to stupor.”
“Some of the customers who are victims are still in hospital, their phones , jewelries were carted away and the report was same in other hotels where they made same arrest.
“This is sad, Mr governor has been briefed on the matter and just like I told the people, justice will be done, and I appealel to the youths of state to be calm and law abiding”.
