Announces A 2-Day Workshop For Secondary Schools Teachers.
Inspired by the initiative of a Sports Brand (Blitzik Sports) based in Ondo State,the Trustees of Community Sports and Educational Development (CSED) Initiative has decided to extend their grassroot sports development program, giving Netball more awareness in Nigeria.
CSED is a non-governmental organization that has organized several sports training in states such as Edo, Delta and Akwa-Ibom States respectively.
Speaking ahead of the 2 day sports workshop for Physical Health Education Teachers in Ondo State Nigeria, one of CSED Trustees, Mr Cornelius Ehimiaghe said Netball-a game played by over 20 million girls across the world will soon be in many Secondary schools in Nigeria.
Mr Ehimiaghe said one of the major aim of CSED is to develop sports from the grassroot.
He further stated that encouraging sports among schools is a desire which the CSED will always pursue.
Another CSED trustee who also serve as the National Representative and a former Super Eagles player Coach Edema Fuludu also expressed happiness with the responses from Nigerians in embracing NETBALL.
While calling for more awareness among Nigerians, the AFCON 1994 Cup winner said if giving more attention, Nigeria has all it takes to outclass other nations especially the commonwealth nations where the game is enjoying dominance.
The Director of Blitzik Sports, Mr Isaac Afolabi while aligning with the thoughts of CSED trustee said CSED and Blitzik Sports shared similar vision and mission in developing sports at the grassroot describing the gesture as a collective one.
Mr Afolabi,a sports journalist with the Federal Radio Corporation Of Nigeria (FRCN) Positive 102.5 FM Akure and the vice chairman sports writers association of Nigeria (SWAN)Ondo state chapter noted that the advantages of combining education and sports for kids, schools and out of school children cannot be over emphasized saying the partnership between Blitzik Sports and CSED will help to reach out to lives and produce future talent for the country diverting youths energy from social vices.
While stating that Blitzik Sports have been organising sports clinics and competitions among schools and teams especially in basketball in Ondo state,Mr Afolabi said the third edition of Blitzik Sports Clinic will focus on Netball in Ondo state.
The first of its kind workshop is a 2-Day event which will hold at the indoor sports hall of the Ondo State Sport complex Akure on the 28th and 29th 2023.
