Over 500 petitions have been received by the Ondo state Security network, Operation Amotekun from residents of Ondo state since the formation of the agency less than a year.
Amotekun Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, who the guest lecturer at the 2020 Ondo NUJ Press Week said petitions include respite from communities whose farmlands were destroyed by cows.
Adeleye who spoke on ” Contemporary Security Challenges: Is Amotekun corps the way forward? ” also emphasized the need for synergy among military and paramilitary organizations to effectively nib crime in the bud.
Adeleye said Amotekun corps also arrested over 100 suspected criminals after it launched it operation clean up.
He promised to always make the state unsafe for men of the underworld.
He said insecurity can only be surmounted through collaboration of all and sundry and support the special support of media practitioners.
While declaring open the press week, governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who was represented by his chief of staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale thanked NUJ for its support to his administration and ralled more for Amotekun.
The state NUJ chairman, Adetona Adetoba said journalists will always be at the forefront of enhanced security architecture in the state.
