The Chief Imam of Akure kingdom, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede, has implored the Federal Government to find lasting solution to the issue of high cost of prices of goods that has led to the hunger and starvation ravaging the country.

He gave the advice during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration held at Akure praying ground Wednesday.

The cleric noted that Nigeria as a country is blessed with a lot of natural resources to better the lives of the people but could not maximise the opportunity for its development.

He said government both at the state and the federal levels should take bull by the horn to face out hunger in the country.

Yayi-Akorede appealed to government at all levels to take the bull by the horn in tackling the issue of insecurity particularly the kidnapping which has turned into business by some miscreants in the country.

He urged the President Bola Tinubu-led administration not to allow cabals take their ugly heads into his government as it was experienced in the administration of the former President, Muhammadu Buhari.

While appealing to Nigerians to exercise patience with Tinubu’s administration, he described the steps taken so far by the President as the best which will soon yield good results as expected by Nigerians

“The recent sack of some Nigerians from offices attracted rejoice from staff working under them who celebrated their lay off from offices,” he noted.

The occasion was used to pray for the quick recovery of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in order to continue with his good administration in the state.

He, therefore, call on the need for the state government to rise to its responsibilities in taking care of the welfare of religious bodies as well as their followers in the state.

The cleric in his Eid message reminded Muslim faithful to keep to the lessons of the celebration displayed by the Prophet Ibrahim (A S) as a “father of faith” who accepted to slaughter his son Ismail for the fear of Allah in fulfilment of his promise to Him, admonishing them to prepare their minds to pass whatever test that comes their ways.

He cautioned the faithful to desist from the use of alcohol for the celebration, so that God won’t deny them the benefits attached to the festival.
