Opposition parties led by chairmen of the people’s democratic party, Labour party and the African Democratic Congress, ADC, have called for the cancellation of the 2023 Presidential election.
During a press briefing held in Abuja, the parties alleged the electoral umpire of allocating results to the ruling party (APC) and therefore expressed a vote of no confidence on the INEC boss, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, asking him to step aside.
The political parties urged president Muhamadu Buhari to prevail on the INEC chairman to follow the letterings of the electoral act so as to bequit a credible legacy of a transparent Election to Nigerians.
The Electoral act 2023 required the INEC to transmit Election results electronically from the polling units, a provision which the parties say the INEC has violated.
According to them, the wide manipulations that greeted the Election collations requires an immediate action, failure to which the courts will then be approached for redress.
