BREAKING NEWS: COVID-19 – 4 persons under Quarantine as Government calls for calm over 2nd case in Ondo State

Ondo State Government has said four people have been quarantined after coming in contact with the second COVID-19 case, discovered at Ijoka axis of Akure, the state capital.

The Commissioner for Health and Chairman Interministerial Committee on COVID 19, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, told OSRC that the four persons are the mother and three siblings of the patient, an airport worker in Lagos.

Adegbenro explained the male patient was discovered on Wednesday and immediately quarantined while his sample was taken for review and the result returned yesterday (Thursday), which tested positive.

He said beyond the four people, government has also cast a wider net to trace more contacts.

He called for calm and appealed to members of the public to adhere to all stipulated precautionary measures and response protocols.

“The case works at the Lagos Airport. He noticed his condition and personally called the emergency line. He personally drove himself to hospital and we sent ambulance to fetch him from there and deposited him at the infectious Disease Hospital until sample taken.” Adegbenro explained
